myPlan Campus Toolkit

Nearly 50% of intimate partner violence (IPV) survivors experience their first abusive relationship between the ages of 18 and 24 years old, making college-aged students the most at-risk age group for IPV.

A safe and supportive campus environment is essential for students’ academic success. As such, higher education institutions are required to prevent and address various forms of violence, including intimate partner violence (IPV), per Title IX.

However, most students experiencing abuse from a partner suffer alone or seek help from friends, rarely accessing campus resources. Students avoid using campus services for a number of reasons, including not knowing that resources exist, shame and fear of stigma, fear of perpetrator retaliation, and fear of being mistreated by campus authorities and staff (e.g., blaming them, doubting them if they can’t provide evidence, not being taken seriously, or not doing anything at all).

For campuses committed to preventing IPV and it’s negative impacts, we created myPlan, a solution to privately provide students with evidence-based risk assessment tools, resources, and safety planning information specific to their unique situations. myPlan is a research-backed, completely free, tech resource that expands access to personalized safety planning for students impacted by IPV. It’s also for friends to learn how to better support someone they are concerned is in an abusive realationship.

myPlan is a trusted partner of the One Love Foundation and has been added to their education resources to promote student safety and well-being. This campus toolkit provides free resources to integrate myPlan into existing violence prevention resources and programming and includes:

  • Customizable materials for download and print

  • Flyers and handouts (English and Spanish versions)

  • A service learning guide

  • Email templates and a social media kit

  • And much more!

I absolutely love it. I include your app in our packets to our students and community.

— UNIVERSITY CRISIS LINE CASE MANAGER

[myPlan] helped me to see I was in a bad situation. And I could be honest with it. I've been too embarrassed to admit what was happening but this felt safe and non-judgmental.

I'm thankful to have a resource like myPlan. This app has made it easier for me to talk to my friend about her situation and helped me understand her better.

— CONCERNED FRIEND

The app gave me the idea to go to a campus counselor, which was a huge help.
